Rachael Konaka is from North Bougainville. As chief of her clan she is well aware of the importance of developing leadership skills and working with communities to encourage innovation and self-reliance. She believes in the importance of access and service delivery to improve outcomes for all in the areas of agriculture, health and education. She contested the 2012 National Elections with twenty one other candidates and was placed third. Rachael has a Bachelor in Education and a Certificate 1V in Workplace Training and Assessment from Australia. She has worked in education for over twenty years as a teacher; principal and curriculum officer. She has worked as an advisor with the AusAID funded Education Capacity Building Project.
