Introductory English
This course is designed to develop communicative competence for non-English speakers. Participants will develop confidence and skills in using English in context. All modules will include practice with enunciation, grammar, sentence structure, reading and writing.
Course Objectives
By the end of this program, the student will demonstrate;
- Sociolinguistic Competence: the correct use of language in social settings
- Competence in Discourse: being able to sustain a conversation, through dialogue, stories, descriptions and oral conversations
- Strategic Competence: the ability to ask for repetition or clarification
- Use and comprehend appropriate grammar in reading, writing and speaking
